Day 1: How to Reach ALL Students Through Instructional Leadership
In this interactive session, leaders will explore the essential elements of instructional leadership that directly impact student achievement. Drawing from It's Possible! A Leadership Plan for Implementing Quality Reading Instruction and Ensuring Literacy for All by Pati Montgomery and Angie Hanlin, participants will examine how to build and sustain a school culture where "All means ALL."
Leaders will learn how to:
- Promote a shared vision of success for every learner.
- Implement coaching and support systems that strengthen Tier 1 Universal Instruction.
- Foster a growth mindset among staff and students.
- Lead literacy initiatives that align with research-based practices.
This day will blend vision-setting with practical leadership moves, equipping participants to inspire their teams and create the conditions for highly effective instruction in every classroom.
Day 2: Developing a Schoolwide Plan to Promote Literacy for All Students
Building on Day 1's leadership foundation, this session focuses on designing and implementing a sustainable, schoolwide literacy plan. Leaders will explore the systems, structures, and instructional practices that ensure strong Tier 1 Universal Instruction for all students, including English Learners and struggling readers.
Topics will include:
- Implementing Universal Instruction aligned with John Hattie's research.
- Using Data-Based Decision-Making to inform and adjust instruction.
- Establishing collaborative processes for continuous improvement.
- Monitoring and supporting effective literacy practices across grade levels.
By the end of this session, participants will leave with a clear, actionable literacy leadership plan and tools for ensuring that no student is left behind--turning the vision of It's Possible! into a daily reality in their schools.
