Kick-off: Considering Inclusive Frameworks to Plan for All

How we understand inclusion is shifting. Rather than trying to include a few students who are different, we are striving to teach TO the difference. In this kick-off session we will look at how we can integrate multiple inclusive frameworks that might guide collaborative planning teams to design for diversity, rather than retrofit for deficits.

Getting to Know Learners From a Strength-Based Perspective

How can we communicate learner needs without a deficit lens? This session will look at individual and community dimensions, that can be used for planning from a positive and responsive perspective.

October 19th | Designing Needs-Based Classroom Support Plans

In this session we will look at how to anticipate and plan for the needs of students in our classrooms and schools by making decisions that reduce barriers to their success. We will explore how we can assess the environment and set equity oriented targets to increase universal access for all students. We will look at examples and share strategies about how to use resources in effective and efficient ways.

November 10th & January 13th | Curricular Design Part 1 - Backwards Design | Curricular Design Part 2 - Learning Continuums

In these two sessions, we will look at some curricular planning approaches that allows us to design for a range of diversity using grade level curriculum. We will see examples of how we can use curriculum in flexible ways to support success and growth for all students, while targeting self-determination and agency.

February 17th | Inclusive Lesson Design for All

In this session we will look at some inclusive lesson design strategies that harness Universal Design principles to reduce barriers to student engagement, understanding and expression. We will reflect on the individual needs that students have and talk about how we can provide both access and challenge around a grade level learning standard.

April 6th | Inclusive Assessment Through Triangulation of Evidence

This session will dig into how we can use curricular mapping to support students to self-assess, as well as give feedback on and evaluate student evidence of learning that reflect grade level standards.
